I planted a seed in the soil as I wept And through dark of winter it silently slept Through blizzard of night and through wind frozen day In silence and darkness, it patiently lay What flower could come of a small planted seed? Whatever it rendered would honor my need For my life would be blessed with one colorful bloom And no matter how small, it’s delight I’d consume I planted a seed in the soil as I wept After springtimes of rain it’s roots tenderly crept Beneath ground once laden with thick icy snows Came the green stalk of pleasure, the stem of a rose Kissed by the sunshine and blessed by a tear The roses abound in my garden each year More glorious than any bloom I’d visions of The seed that I planted - the sweet seed of love I planted the seed in my youth as I wept Through winters of sorrow it silently slept Now nurtured by heart's spring, my gardens abound With rich warm affection in love’s sweet surround Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 05-15-2001).] |

It is indeed that time of year when we look at miracles that we can, for a moment, hold in our hand, before entrusting it to the good earth.... this is wonderful.... |

What a beautiful, heart felt poem! I love the pain before joy theme of this; it is a mark of authenticity. |

You tickled my green thumb with your wicca of words in this poem, and I loved it! The rhythm was fantastic. ~*~ I write ~ Therefore I am ~*~ |

As we sow, so shall we reap. *S* And you've brightened so many days with your loving ways... I'm so glad harvest time is here. *S* Beautiful! |
