does the silence
overwhelm you
when you need to hear
the voice...

among the stillness
of the night
do you wait for a glimpse--
by choice...

does your body shiver
involuntarily
when you need to feel
the embrace...

do you dwell within
reality
while dreams, and hopes
you chase?

...the silence overwhelms me
when i long to hear the voice,
yet i wait, and hope, and dream--
and i'll fall again--by choice...

interesting...what is 'the voice'?

do you mean the voice of one who loves you?

I so much know what you mean here, That whole feeling thing, I can never quite work out if it's a happy feeling or a sad one as the expectation of the wait can be quite tingly and nice . Fantastic poem, so well written, Thanks .

dg... I think I know what you mean... The voice is so many things too.. An unexpected or expected letter in the mailbox hand written. So much nicer then email. A whisper phone message when your not home. so many things...

Really loved this piece.

dg....loved your poem....and your comment to a comment....about being happy that you've found a place to come to where you can make sense to others...as well as yourself. Isn't it the truth.  Bob

This captures so eloquently the soul of a woman who waits and hope that "he" will call or better yet...come by.  Just to be in the very presence of his voice would make her night...even if afterwards, she may not see him for a long time or ever again.

Keep the ink flowing.
