Icarus So sweet, this honor of knowing you, sleeping angel. Deep in still slumber, you point the way, sweeping sleight of hand. Reach stretched taut, assignment on high, spread by a lullaby. Lay, lay down with you, oh yes, the featherbed feel of you. Light is lingering, past sun’s waxing set, a song, is it you? © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

Brilliant as ever Corinne . Whenever I come back to your poetry, I read it with a great expectation; you always seem to exceed it though . Thanks . L.of.L. Tommy . XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Try not, do or do not, there is no try . |

Icarus: "The orbits of most of the minor planets have semimajor axes that lie in the range 2.3 to 3.3 AU. The sideral periods of most of them are in the range 3.5 to 6 years. Icarus has the smallest orbit - with a semimajor axis equal to 1.0777 AU. It also has the orbit of highest eccentricity among the known minor planets (0.83), and its perihelion distance from the sun is only 17 million mi. It is the only known object in the solar system other than comets and meteorites that passes within the orbit of Mercury." OR.......a very lovely poem. Bob |
