So I sit
Wondering
Where did the words go?
Pen to paper
And what do I see?
Flowers, names, clouds
But no words
My thoughts like confettii
Tiny scraps blowing in the breeze
Bits and pieces of dreams
Puzzles missing parts
Beaches with no sand
So why cant I write?
Am I too happy?
Too sad?
Has this well run dry?
Am I destined now
Ever to be the reader?
A soul lost
Without this release
It was never a talent
Just a need
But oh the rush
When the words flow
And now?
Now its like a dripping faucet
Never enough to satisfy
Just enough to annoy
And I cant write
Cant dream
Cant fly
Cant see
Where am I?

Well, you sure found the words on this one! Fantastic as always!

a familiar scenario for all of us, Paula! Muses are ducks in a shooting gallery...we just have to keep the gun aimed and wait for one to show up....they always do

I really like this, Paula...perhaps because, I can so relate to the dripping faucet thing  ...great write, though!

it's the ole muse, we never know when it takes a leave...but it comes back sometimes full-force!

Getting that muse kick-started is sometimes most difficult...

and then it just takes off...

well done!

I would like to be a poet without words too if in the end something will appear as it did above. No words indeed, but a beautifull poem.

No poet likes being here.  It's a poetic preach on writer's block.

"puzzles missing parts"... nasty feeling, which you have turned into a stupendous result. Bravo!
