In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2001-05-12 11:06 PM

I ramble in my mind, pieces of something

Does the runner in you trot on solid ground
or merely run in place on sinking sand
do you fear the dark of yourself, or it a simple
manner for which you have come to accept
a different love, a different feeling, different
I grow from the wounds of desire
and reach for a shadow that doesn’t
follow me, yet plays hide and seek
I wanted happiness in my life
a room of sunshine,
but have failed in the storms
of passing times that lay heavy
upon my heart
I have loved you for so long
that I can hear you breathing from here
and when your eyes close
mine close as well
I am too young to feel this tired
and too old to start over
but my spirit in its humble
light offers me some kind of hope
I look back upon yesterday
and all I see is the five year old
that skinned her knee
and cried when the bandage
was removed
I feel safer knowing that one day
my soul will pass through yours
and once again I will know comfort

I am not quite sure how to comment on this one, as I feel "you" are to young to feel that old for sure, and and you are "never" too old to start again, I have done it 3 times.  But...I also hear the hope that your gentle spirit will find a place to reconcile until two hearts and spirits meld as one.  I loved this poem as the emotion you conveyed I am sure many can identify with, great job!

you havent failed anything or anyone..
youre right where you need be...right where you should be...
its all part of a process, stages of growth
the rest comes with time, and healing, and writing...
I felt every line of this beautiful flowing sincere emote as if written on my skin...
for sure..engraved on my heart

Lauren,

A very introspective and lovely piece.  I think many of us can relate to this, my friend.  Thanks

Excellently written, Lauren...when I read this, I thought of the same exact lines from the Matchbox Twenty song that JM quoted...wonderful expression of such a lonely feeling...I like this a lot!

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk in the room...

sure, yesterday I felt like just running away from the entire family, down the street and around the corner and to the park........that is so foolish, I enjoyed reading this, it made me think!

Lauren, we are never to old to learn or to old to grow......with time all things are as they should be.  May your heart be filled with peace dear friend.
