Pen the Word

by Michael

Twilight lingers
'pon his graying brow,
as nesting birds find rest
with coming chill of eve.

A sack of coal dust,
filled
with tiny sparkling fires
is thrown
against the heavens,
as night descends.

Another day dies,
lost to dark’s embrace.

The poet’s hand stirs,
lifts pen to page

For in this night of burning, pregnant suns
a call is heard.
Whispers, faint, are shouting, “Pen the word.”

And so, he writes
and writes of me.

"Love is space and time measured by the heart"

Michael:

Very beautifully done and so original...as:

A sack of coal dust,
filled
with tiny sparkling fires
is thrown

and:

For in this night of burning, pregnant suns
a call is heard.
Whispers, faint, are shouting, “Pen the word.”

Love the way you did this!

Your choice of words astounds me, and beautiful words they are too!  What a lovely piece.

Michael, such a way with words! This is so lovely.

And so, he writes
and writes of me."
