Bitter Root |

Bitter is the root, planted too shallow, in unfertile fields unendingly fallow, an ailing, wild weed struggling in a desert, for nourishment - a dusty bowl of dessert. But the seed that lies dormant, waiting for spring’s rain song, and winds to part clouds to make way for noon’s sun, will find existence verdant, thrive in adversity, divine in reflection, bright as the golden poppy. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

This is a lovely poem. Your recognition of our need for periods of dormacy, for "sabbath" is a valuable lesson. You write like someone who truly understands this- you bloom. |
