Listening to every heart

The Reception

there are special happenings
in moments
if you seek them out

paying unique attention
to those displays
is what makes
the memories

but I do not always
enlighten
those who should know
for if they cannot see
it,
then it wasn’t for their
soul to own

on a night,
a once in a lifetime
moment,
I accepted what
I could accept,
shared a part of me
that I could share,
took in all that
I could remember
in the hubbub of
thinking of others,
first

but then

there was the moment
that highlighted
the highlights

and I knew
it was my sign

as always, putting it in
the context of,
“of course”

best foot forward
I took the “sign”
as my own

to have and to hold
from this day forward

a vision of
spectacular

which is not word enough
for the happening

for,
after a swearing in ~
allegiance paid ~
congratulations
received ~

I paid tribute
to the Higher Power

and thanked Him
for his gifts

as on the horizon

black forms loomed
in the west, a singular
cloud bank shaping,
backdropped by the Sun’s
last rays

black as night
this single mass of cloud
emerged on the
horizon

and we watched as
sheet lightning
danced within

no sound
no wind
just faces of awe

some never having seen
lightning dance
on top of clouds

like veins in your hands
spotlighted from
behind with
a flashlight

and all of this
capped off
The Reception

in which I received
His blessings;

in truth,
His was the better show.

And Amen.

few things have the impressive power of a mid-west storm...
and yes...this was a sign...
and this is a VERY cool poem...
imagery and wisdom learned and  now shared
way cool, and well done poetess sun

"Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold." ...
"So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay."

These words had such true color, fabulous imagery in every line and class!  BRAVO

and the sun drips honey."

Gotta love those 'of course' moments! Wonderful expression, Karilea!
