Requiem/What Love Is... In the end she had Relinquished any control She possessed To the powers that be The NHS The local authority And it still seems strange That even before the Skin on her face Had become flaccid Discolored Before the life had been Emptied from each Dying cheek She did not cry Or wail Just mourned And she mourned So much it slowly Killed her And hurt So contagiously It hurt us all Pain that Knew no words, Retribution or self pity Only silence & confusion And looking back Her dormant requiem Revealed the chasm He had left behind A vacuous void Only the tumor Could fill Yet the smile & serenity, as she departed Left the lingering notion, Maybe that's what love is... |

Welcome to the forum! This is an intriguing piece and has a quality of sad ponder to it that reminded me of, well...ME. Looking forward to reading more of your work! |
