Summer Pond

I walked the edge of summer pond
To places where my heart was fond
On verdant grassy bed of green
I sat to view the tranquil scene

Then leaning toward the water’s edge
Beside the lush of shady hedge
I saw reflections of the skies
And likeness of my face and eyes

I walked the edge of season’s time
To places that I left behind
Along the softness of a dream
I sat to view life’s flowing stream

Then leaning toward reflection’s truth
Beside a blushing kiss of youth
I saw the depth, the total sum
Of where love’s  been to where it’s come

I walked the edge of memories
To places where my heart was free
Along the soft and tender grass
I laid my head in visions past

Then leaning toward the summer pond
The seasons that have come and gone
Reflected in the glassy glaze
The loneliness of all my days

I walked where fantasies depart
Along the fringes of my heart
And there I laid to rest my head
Upon the softness of my bed

Then leaning toward the looking glass
I saw the lush of hedge and grass
In places where I once was fond
On grassy green by summer pond

Liz, my friend,
-----------
I walked
...
...
...

Then Leaning
...
...
...
-----------
This is a beauty in form, content, images and the feel of it ... if I were to choose the lines I liked most, that would be the entire poem on view again...

Now, when are you going to start your classes to teach me how to write?

Regards,
Sudhir

Liz, this was lovely, I had to read it twice. Reflections, longing and completeness all summed up to read so well.

You have a gift for meter, but more importantly, one for touching another with your words - Thank you for this one. It's lovely.
