Being a Mother Virginia Salter Was it a surprise, was it a plan the day those words were heard... delivered dryly delivered wryly “You’re pregnant, Ma’am.” Spinning went the message scarcely could believe your ears and now ahead a promise of some truly, wonderful years. Will she be healthy; will I do right; will he sleep easily through the night? Will he learn to walk; will she learn to run; in spite of one another, will we have some fun? “I know I’m right! I know it’s best, please don’t put me to the test!” (I think I’m right; I think it’s best; please, Lord, help me with this test!) And when I fail, and when I fall help my child still stand tall. For you gave to me this wondrous career; help me face it with just the right fear. And help me, too, to always know for wisdom and faith to You to go. © May 2, 2000 |

VAS, I remember ALL of those days and feelings. Boy, you must have been there! And you know what? those days never end no matter how far away they go or how old they get. I like the way you said it though. Hugs, ME |
