Do Words Have Power?

by Michael

If words have power,
then why do mine so fail?

I often find them weak,
frail,
limping along
when I'd prefer
that they would run like hell.

Perhaps it’s because
I hold my pen too tightly,
not letting it loose
to fly across the page
and scrawl in bold letters,
thoughts that might be
too controversial.

No, that’s not true.

My pen has its liberty,
but common sense
must prevail.

I write for the good of man,
not the opposite.

I write to soothe the heart,
lift up the hurting,
embrace those
in need of reassurance.

I write to offer hope.

I write to let others know
that we’re much the same
in what we think and feel.

Though weak
in many ways,
my words
still have their place.

I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it

Michael--You words tell of hope and dispair...they sing and they cry...they offer friendship and wisdom...and I'm so glad you post them here.

Your words I seek out and find them wonderfully expressive. Let your pen fly. Sometimes what we believe will be controversial is actually just meat for friendly discussion. Pen on.!!

SEA,
You are very sweet and I thank you both for reading and for the compliment.

Helen,
If that is true, then for some reason I can't see it.  Still, I do appreciate such a nice comment.

walker,
That is certainly true.  Sometimes they do tend to carry more weight.  I wonder why that is.  Thank you.  I'm glad you liked this piece.

Elzabeth Anne,
If you want to learn to write, then I'll help you in anyway that I can.  Thanks for reading, my friend.

Titia,
Welcome to Passions.  This is the first that I've seen of you.  There's a great group of people here. Oh, and thanks for the nice comments.

snowpants,
That my words touch a person is what every writer wants to hear, for that is one of the main reasons we continue to write.  Thank you for letting me know this and thanks for coming by to read.

Dawn,
Such a lovely things to say.  Be careful now or you'll be giving me a big head.  Seriously, thank you so much.

Martie,
As you know, I'm considering leaving Passions.  I don't think I've told anyone else that yet.  Thank you for liking this one.

Julian,
"meant for friendly discussion"...that's always best, isn't it?  Thank you.

Lauren,
I'm so glad you liked this one.  Thank you, my friend.

Thank you, everyone!
Michael
