“Rest In Peace” was graven, in the granite at the head-
Of six by three of Texas clay, which served to make his bed.
“Beloved father, friend to all”, was carved upon the stone-
Beneath his native soil tonight, my brother rests alone.

“Rest In Peace”? a maudlin thought, he liked to have his fun
With others peoples women, till he fell to someone’s gun.
Like David said of Abner, he, too, died like a fool-
Live like a dog, and die the same, is life’s unwritten rule.

“Rest In Peace”? It sounds quite trite. My own choice would have been-
“Here lies a victim of his lusts... A casualty of sin”!
I loved him deeply, miss him still, will sorrow never cease?
But I doubt very seriously, if he will “Rest In Peace”.
