Tonight, I wait for you.
Listening to all the sound of the night,
waiting to hear you footsteps so that my heart can beat again.
You're not alone,
everytime you fly you take my love with you,
riping it apart, thread by thread.
No, I will not condemn you actions.
I will swallow my sorrows.
I will smile my pain away.
I don't want no one's pity.
Eveyone bears their cross in so many ways.
I won't ask you where you've been.
Tomorrow morning,
I will make your coffee, toast your toast.
One more time keeping to myself,
your quiet footsteps.

For the speaker of these words...it may be time to wake up and smell the coffee.  Nevertheless, you have described very vividly what so many, many people, especially women go through.  And women, especially, keep the secrets to themselves...I guess so, maybe, if it stays a secret it will never be truth.

Walker,
this is well done. I too have quiet footsteps in the night but for me they come from my adult son.

well, I've heard those quiet footsteps too. I tend to wonder if we expect too much out of our relationships, either bearing crosses or leaving. I really don't see how people stay happily together these days. Nice write, it makes me think about my past relationships and wonder about love in general.

This one really spoke to me....the footsteps..what a piece.
