In summertime, the roses bloom,
Within my outdoor living room.
I set my camera lens on zoom,
While lilies add their sweet perfume.

The busy bee and butterfly,
Ignore me as they flit on by.
I dare not wear a scent, or I,
Might be the next meal that they try.

They probe each flower for its delight,
And carry pollen in their flight.
Such beauty everwhere in sight,
To ignore it would be impolite.

The hard spring work is now forgot.
I need not labor when its hot.
I laze upon my hammock cot,
And let my frazzled nerves unknot.

My boring duties I postpone,
Unplugged intrusive telephone.
This quiet world is mine alone,
In just reward for what I've sown.

I felt exactly like this today when I watched  what I think is last year's 'Mr. Squirrel's' baby eating the food I'd put out for them.  I live in the city and I nurture any wildlife brave enough to venture here because I love watching them so much.  Loved this!

Lovely poem, I too adore the outdoors and I have great weather year round. And so much wild life on my backyard you wouldn't believe it. So I don't have to wait for June
