You listened too much And heard too little, Watching me as I sat, Just like some curious hawk Scanning for prey. I could see the questions Spin around behind your eyes; Bright pinwheels of doubt. You never understood What made me who I am, And the time or two I wanted to tell Your interest drew away; A petulant child, bored with the moment. I know you wish I wore A reflecting skin, So you could polish it everyday With the oil of your discontent And watch the black pools Of my life Rise to the surface like floating fish. |

HeadStarter~ Intensely gripping. Very well done. 'I could see the questions Spin around behind your eyes; Bright pinwheels of doubt.' Enjoyed this. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
