If I Only Had a Heart Virginia Salter If I only had a heart .....said the Tinman .....mournfully As he reached out his hand .....to the lonely .....little girl If I only had a heart, .....I could care for so many, .....said he, handing .....buttercup smiles .....to the children .....in the lane I’d dream of ways .....to bring light and music .....to the souls .....of the land .....whose eyes .....are blue with tears If I only had a heart ©April 25, 2000 |

I really loved the tinman. So are you going to write on the scarecrow and the lion?? Giving buttercups - I smiled as read your poem. "If I only had a heart." |

I need to view the Wizard of Oz again, this is the second poem I've read concerning the wonderful characters and I enjoyed reading this very much! Kathleen Blake |

That would be great Sven if there were too many, but I think it's impossible to have too many like the tinman in my poem. Like the one in Oz, he did many deeds that were led by his heart and just didn't realize it at the time. I guess it was as if he just couldn't do enough to make himself believe that he had a heart. Everyone, thank you for reading and your wonderful comments. I'd write more but I need to leave for choir practice. |
