*sighs* I miss her. This is a Happy Birthday for my little sister. She is one of many and one brother. There is more. Today on May 1, 2001, she is 9 years old. I don't know if she'll ever read this, but I did have to share it here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From whispers to your darling face, In the car while Mom drove. Holding your bottle, Changing your diapers... The few of my siblings whose I would. I guess all those times Talking to you while you were newly born, Having your eyes fixed on my face, And the soft sound of my voice in your baby ears, Must have bonded us in a love, That I treasure now, And hold to like a light in some of my darkest hours. I know not why it is you little sister, When I have so many others. I know not why God sends the thought of you my way, Sometimes when I'm feeling down. Remember. Magnetic backpack poetry, And that poem you made that I tried to save. Remember Shopping and spoiling you. Remember Watching you gain your Dad's sense of humor. Remember The library and the park after work, On the days when I could work for the family. The mistletoe that we discovered in the treetops, While I told you, That once I didn't believe Grandma, When she said it grew there. A sprig of that still dried, On my car dash. I can't throw it away. Remember birthdays of the past, When teddy bears and books brought a smile of delight to your face. You're one of the few who calls me Jenny now, In that sweet voice that I wish didn't have to grow up at all. Soft, Blond, Quick witted these days. I love you, Lori. Happy Birthday, And may God continue to bless you, With the understanding and youth, That he has already given you. [This message has been edited by Temptress (edited 05-01-2001).] |

Thanks all! This was certainly a joy to write, and as the oldest of 7 (one of them a brother)I am certainly blessed. I love them all, and since the move, I miss them greatly. They are in my heart as the rest of my family though. I could only hope that they and everyone else values family as much as I do. Its a rare thing these days. Thanks all again for commenting on this. |

Sven and Songbird, Thank you. I am just as lucky to have her and such a wonderful family. I don't know if she would be able to appreciate it right now,but perhaps I underestimate her? I've been told I underestimate all my siblings...or could it be that I just worry so much about them? Anyway...Thanks for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and yes..it was written with every ounce of love I could bring to surface. still d-i-s-c-o-n-n-e-c-t-e-d |
