Wall Be Damned In abysmal despair and desperation I strike fists against this wall so damned invisible to others which keeps me from you to my knees I crumple, I fall all the times I behold you there, here, see me reach out all I can keep to myself is the look from your eyes ~ am I in your heart still realized… they are looking right past me they do not see me through the barrier, you are there, I am here opposite sides of this invisible wall cannot you hear my soundless call but if I were to speak to you and watch you nod your head I know you would hear me, sense the utterance of my heart and again believe I would not depart but wonder do I if you recall the life we had before oh would you walk on through this unperceivable door and come to me once more recapture my heart you've already done when you first took me under the sun those memories do not fade at night tho you were taken then by the blight here you are now, within my sight your garb is of the then now gone mine is of the here and now yet I know you must perceive me somehow and travel 'cross this plane of time to once again become one, and mine oh damn this invisible wall ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 8 July 2000 |

Oh, Karilea, you write this so powerfully, I relate all too well, more than you'd ever know. Often, we damn these walls when really they are our own creation, we entomb ourselves. A person such as yourself, full of love, beauty and wisdom should have no walls to speak of, but, I'll always be here to help you tear them down, my friend Take care, Melissa~ |

Karilea--Life is full of invisible walls, some we make ourselves, others are made for us...and they always alienate and it's so hard to break them down....Oh, I loved this poem, if you couldn't tell... |

More time than I'd like to recall I've spent standing before a wall Beating my head, bloodying fists Against a barrier that resists Every effort I might make - I bared my soul, begged him to take Whatever from me he might need. But did he even hear me plead? The job was beyond my volition It takes two for demolition. This touched me deeply, Sunshine... it's powerful and well written... and makes me really appreciate windows. *S* |

I guess we all see something different in others poetry. You are still alive and he lives only in your mind. Right or wrong I do not know, but your poem made me sad. No one knows the pain within your heart but you. |

This is a wonderful poem, but I did not get that type of a reading at all. Sometimes we simply just loose our way, but he "sees us", and patiently waits. Keep the faith and the wall and abyss shall cease to exist, and continue to "damn the wall"! |

Many things could be derived for this a husband and wife in struggle to connect a grown child and aging parent inner conflict between a woman in transition struggling to be free of something in her past I even see the possiblilty as the distance and the wall being the computer screen and cyberspace... thats the beauty of poetry ... each can find some of themselves in anothers words. So was I close on any of these |

I think since everyone is getting their own refraction of light on this piece, I will quietly keep my thoughts to myself, and let you all continue to read it as you will.... and I so thank you for doing so! |

Time after time, Karilea. lol The message. The question. The answer. The wall, is time. A time before. They are one. Thanks. "The poet is the priest of the invisible." |
