I sit in the park alone
Surrounded by nature
She beckons to me
With bright sunshine
That warms me within

She and I are old friends
For I used to come here
All the time to escape
From the harshness
Of life’s realities

It didn’t matter
If I was happy or sad
This was my place
Where I could sit
And ponder the future

I came here many times
With a heavy heart
Wondering if I’d survive
The pain I felt inside
Praying for guidance

Today I come in peace
It radiates from my soul
Like warmth from the sun
I still sit alone on the dock
Watching the ducks play

There is a calmness
Throughout my being
As I give thanks to the Lord
For the many blessings
He has bestowed upon me

In times of trial or strife
We often forget to pause
To reflect upon the good
That exists in our lives
Focusing instead on the bad

I lose myself in thought
As I review my blessings
On this beautiful day
Here in the serenity
Of the park by the river

I am thankful for many things
Such as my friendship with Kathleen
My spiritual mother whom I cherish
With all my heart and love more than words
Thank you for just being you sweetheart

I am thankful for my Dad
Who is always there for me
Never asking anything in return
The epitome of a father’s love
I would do anything for you

I am thankful for my Mom
For even though she is gone
A part of her lives in me
She taught me the value
Of friendship and family

I am thankful my job
Although there are times
When it gets hectic or crazy
I love the people I’ve met
They make it all worth while

I am thankful for my talents
That the Lord has given me
I hope I can bring glory
To His name through them
Poetry and music mainly

I am thankful for the chance
To experience the married life
I wish things could have turned out differently
But, John, I would do it all over again
For it has taught me many lessons

I am thankful for the little things
A home, food on the table
Not having to wonder where
My next meal will come from
Or where I will sleep tonight

Although materially many have more
Than I will ever have in this life
I believe I am wealthy beyond compare
For I know the value of life’s treasures
Unconditional love and true friends

All the money in the world
Cannot buy the peace of mind
That I feel sitting here today
While counting my blessings
In the realm of nature’s playground

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Joyce:  Thank you, I was just sitting there the other day and started to think of all I have going for me.  This was the result.

Mysteria:  I am very blessed and lucky to have such wonderful friends.

Kathleen:  You are welcome, my friend.  YOU will always be a blessing to me.

Nate:  We have much in common I see.  There is way more to life than money and material possessions.  I place my faith in God knowing He will provide.  By the way, it's ma'am not sir.  LOL.

Latin Passion:  Thank you!!

Lauren:  You are welcome my friend.  Thank you for stopping by to read.
