Out of Their Kaleidoscope
Virginia Salter

mountains stand,
majestic, overlooking valleys, cities,
in grand array of color
purple, magenta, umber and green
beneath heaven’s azure
above golden grain

out of their kaleidoscope
raven and eagle
soar on the wing
robin and meadow lark
in full chorus sing

deer, bear and antelope
play in the wood
rabbit and ferret
encompass the good
fox and kit,
beaver and pup
drink in the pleasure
of nature’s full cup

rivulets and rills
descend over rocks
brooks and streams
race toward the docks
fish and eel
crawdad and clam
dancing, cavorting
toward sweet beaver’s dam

all of creation
in balance so true
a gift from the heavens
this wildlife zoo
rejoice in its beauty
give song to the sky
pirouette ‘neath the raindrops
and let your hearts fly

Living in the mountains, much of what your mind's eye painted is familiar to me, but you painted it all so beautifully. I am so thankful to be able to see it first of all, and to experiece it, again in this fine form of poetry, thank you.

This is such a lovely picture...
no paint brush could do it justice....

May your dreams always dance to the rhythm of a lover's heartbeat...

When I was a kid I wanted to live in the woods with the animals...now I am a city dweller.  Perhaps it is time to rethink things!

I adore the mountains, the streams.  Often we go there and while he fishes I write....I find such inspiration there.  This is wonderful.  *s*
