Falling

even though
there had been a backseat
that was not
good enough for me,
so it
waited until

after the white

but I should have known

should have listened

should have seen it in your eyes

that even though
you had given me one
night of Hearst Castle

where dreams should
have been real

we slowly eclipsed to
a room by the
racetrack

as the money
dwindled down

and laying back,
I gazed up
and saw where a mirror
had once been
bracketed
directly overhead

but I should have known

should have listened

should have seen it in your eyes

your taking me first to
where I belonged
than to a place where your
real self
resided

I did not belong there

where there was no
curtain for the shower

and the smell of last night’s
victory

held on

I should have known

should have listened

should have seen it in your eyes

pride goeth before a fall

I fell too far.

Sometimes we know and still won't listen to what we know would be a mistake.

Wow.  Sorry.  Both venues can be "right" with the "right" person

Ouch.  You write with a gentle honesty that's quite touching.  I enjoyed, Lady In White

Old Pennsylvania Dutch expression:
"We grow too soon old and too late smart"
I like how you expressed it much better

it's the fall that always teaches the lesson. . . I've always asked if we could learn the lesson without the fall. . . *sigh*. . . it just doesn't work that way. . .

excellent. . .

Lady In White - such a story that you tell, a heart that was torn perhaps. But smile, as tomorrow will come, and with it the beautiful dawn of another day.
