~*~ The Rose Of Texas ~*~

You are my Internet friend who gives me hope.
You stands by me, when sometimes I feel despair.
A true friend that will always listen to me,
And in my heart, I know you truly do care.

You manage to always somehow make the time.
You never turn your back on me as some others have.
You comfort me with words of encouragement and love;
You are truly like some sort of magical healing salve!

You have taught me how to really stop and smell a rose,
To see the beauty in the pages of “The Good Book”.
To always share, and give back to my fellow man,
To be humble, and give back more than I took.

You've taught me the importance of caring,
To share my love with others, each and every day.
To lend a helping hand to someone I don’t know, or,
Just give the priceless gift of a smile away.

Through your poetry you have taught life lessons,
When I read them, I clearly understood.
I would give anything to sit down with you,
Share a coffee and a laugh, oh, if only we could!

You are a living example of absolutely everything,
That stands for love; you’re so gentle, kind and true.
So today for no reason, I wanted you to know,
I feel so very blessed by my friendship with you!

You put the sweetness in the rose of Texas,
And this is  a little “hallmarky” I have to admit it’s true,
But just in case I forget to remember to tell you,
Martha Dawn, my friend in Texas, “I love you!”

Wondeful tribute to your special friend. These verses are full of love and caring. It is a beautiful read and you expressed your feelings so well!  Good writing!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

You sure do have a way with words. Not only have you honored your friend, but all of us Texans with your poem, yellow rose, and our great song.

Balladeer - trust me this person has a heart as big as Texas, and I am very proud indeed to call her my friend.  Thank you.

ethome - he he thank you, I did this at about 3 in the morning as I wanted it there as a wakeup call!

Martha - that is what friends do isn't it?  Hey, dudette, I will always be there for you, and I hope you for me - I guess this means you liked it?  Luv ya girl.

inot2B - I have to tell you when I was in Texas last year, I never met such nice people in all my life!  And...those shrimps!  WOW! I ate those for breakfast, lunch and dinner, he he. Thanks for reading.
