There are more than miles between us More than roads untravelled, wishes unfulfilled I once believed all it took was a bridge Built with faith and love, with friendship Made out of shared moments of joy And, yes, even those shared times of pain But my bridge, it seems, was just an illusion Swept away on a flood of bitterness That has nothing to do with me So there you stand, alone, untouched Farther than miles from me And here I stand, warm, willing With everything we need to build this bridge If only If only You would lay one tiny piece, one little brick On your edge of this gap And let there be only miles between us. |

Paula, I read your poem twice sweetie, and I'll probably read it over again as you've expressed so beautifully the feelings of a heart filled with much love can only feel... |

WOW....this is a great poem. I can really relate to this. "If only You would lay one tiny piece, one little brick On your edge of this gap And let there be only miles between us." reminds me of my father. Wish there was only miles between us. Thank you for your poetry. *JOE* |

Wow what a powerful write! Looking across the waters and wondering how to bridge the gap with emotions travelling on waves of deep love......very very well done!! The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up |

Wow seems to be the consensus here and I must agree. When miles are not the distance to be bridged it takes a whole different kind of architecture. Incedible write! |
