(For she who is still waiting.)

I cry not that my love has gone,
I weep because he's never been.
Have I missed out on love's parade?
Did he go out as I came in?

Perhaps he lived another age
And will forever search for me.
I'm right here where I've always been.
I'm here, but where is he?

Is it just a fluke that God forgot,
To place him in a likely spot,
For he and I to meet?
Did I turn right as turned left?
Is that why I am so bereft?
The wrong side of the street?

On that big  wheel of fortune,
Did I miss my only vowel?
In the all important game of love,
Must I throw in the towel?

Dear God I've waited patiently.
Could You just direct his feet;
To that long road I'm traveling?
Make this the day we meet.

very well written. You got your point across quite well, and I TOTALLY sympathize with how you feel.  Sometimes I just wonder if my days of love are over.

Unrequited love sucks.

Joyce~
This is a brilliant little piece of writing.

'Is it just a fluke that God forgot,
To place him in a likely spot,
For he and I to meet?'

Greatly enjoyed the thought in this thought!

awwww.....a very touching poem. The feeling that your soul mate is no where in site is a feeling a lot of people face.  This poem is much appreciated =)... I've read about 6 of your poems so far and all have been wonderful.  This one and Voices are my
favorite =)

your friend,

*JOE*

Thank you friends for commenting on my little poem.  I just got to thinking how it would be if some paths never crossed.  Love, Joyce

"On that big wheel of fortune

Oh how I love this description... even if it is so apt it hurts like the dickens! LOL. But I'd almost rather believe that God HAD forgotten to put him in a likely spot than that we DID meet and his reaction to me was BLECK!!! LOL This is great, Joyce... well done!

In retrospect...I believe it was me that messed up some of my opportunities for love...and if I can use this time to prepare myself perhaps I will do better next time...which I am hoping is right now...and I hope I do better...off course the beginning of love is friendship...James

Of all of the poems I "get" this one the most.  I wouldn't know love if it hit me over the head! (Probably, because I'd be unconscience!)  But, even with a tear in the eye, it is wonderful to see it in other people.  I would never deny or envy someone that.  I guess it's a very ecclesiastical way of looking at things, but, perhaps one person needs to miss out so another can have much more.  Maybe that is what creates those incredible loves we sometimes are lucky to see.

Joyce, I hope you find yours.....
