What is this creeping over me Why am I so afraid I am safe in my own place Nothing can hurt me here Where does this come from Why does it come at all It happens so fast, without warning One moment all is well, the next I am drowining in a tidal wave Struggling to catch my breath Wave after wave crashes over me Nameless dread, unknown fear Sweat breaks out over my body Hot, so hot ... my skin flushed My pulse racing wildly Jumping from thought to thought No clear-cut goal in mind Except to find a hiding place This dark is good It is safe in my cave All alone save for one My old nemesis is back Back with a vengeance Panic Attack. I've suffered from these for 40 years, just never had the courage to post it publicly!! They are very real, and if this is not from personal experience, you are blessed!!!!! Kathleen Blake |

Yup, and even worse is the fear of having one. Write on. Live for love. Without love, you don't live. |

Peppermint....as Irish Rose said....we hope that your poem is not from personal experience. However, if it is, find out all that you can about this malady. There is a wealth of information available; not to mention counselors who can help an individual develop the tools (one of the most important of which is controlled breathing...an art in itself)with which the symptoms can be mitigated and, in many cases, eliminated over time. Feel free to e-mail if you would like to discuss. Bob |

I appreciate all your comments and your concern... these are mine. They were under control, but ... due to some recent things going on, they've started up again... but I'm fighting back.. I promise you that Kathleen, I do truly emphathize... Pepper |

Been there and it sure does take alot out of living. Don't like to wander far from home when I'm alone anymore. One can't be sure when it will creep up and take over again. |

having never had this. . . I can only go by what I know. . . but the words convey that sense of a loss of control and the fear. . . well written pepper. . . ------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

I know how easy it is to hide in a corner, to feel solitude, when in fact this just helps you go deeper into despair, sharing with others and talking about it is a healing process, the only way to get through it is to keep faith. thank you for sharing this, and speaking out. |

Thank you all... I wish I could manage each one of you individually....but sometimes it's more than I can do to bring myself to speak at all right now.... Sorry, not trying to dump... I'm getting help...but right now it's a long way uphill. I am glad it said what I hoped it would say...I thought maybe.. if I write it out..it will defuse it a little bit... and I think it helped somewhat... Bless ya'll all.. you're all so very wonderful Pepper |
