Just Another Nightmare

Confused and disoriented
Where is this place?
All I see is greyness
Stretching my hands before me
Nothing on all sides
I first walk, then run blindly
Driven by my racing heart
Run with no goal in sight
Run to escape the terror I feel
I stumble over a rough place
Fall to my knees
Sink sobbing to the ground
Lost... I am lost
And it is so dark
No sense of anything familiar
Black like the tomb
It closes all around me
Every noise accentuated
So sinister, so frightening
Is someone coming?
Something creeping towards me
Blind panic jerks me upright
I flee again in darkness
And then I'm falling
Falling deeper into this pit
Falling without end
My heart jerks inside me
I scream and close my eyes
And wake, safe in my bed
Just another nightmare.
