Afternoon
Virginia Salter

Glorious sunshine
breeze whipping pansy petals
wind chimes rhythmically
singing tempo to the day

Melan-Choly
Virginia Salter

If melancholy
was a dog
he’d likely have no hair

he may even have the lowest tail
dangling in the air

surely he’d wear
the saddest eyes
that ever a dog could know

his bones would be
full meat-free
and he’d rarely have to go
