View from a Window

Good God where has all the time gone?
Seems but yesterday I was born.
And now I think I’ve been misled
This one-way street that lies ahead

My head has turned from hair to skin
Hair around but nothing within
And wrinkles light where once was tight
My beard has grown a semi white.

My abs no longer is a drum
In fact it’s added quite a sum
My muscle tone has turned to moan
Each time I walk they seem to groan.

I miss my friends that passed away
The one’s are left don’t want to play.
They all complain of tired feet
And joke about their obsolete.

Good heavens I’m a sac of bones
That shakes and rattles undertones.
But still I think a butterfly
And sigh each time the girls go bye.

I dream much better than I did
I’m off in the wink of a lid.
For with the dream I am once more
The young man in the candy store

Perhaps it is better this way
For I sleep most of the day.

Keep winging to the petals, butterfly...and if you land on my hand, I'll stroke your wings....and lift you to the higher breezes....

excellent...

I KEEP telling ya Sy-babes....
youre like a fine wine... ya just get better with age..........
and I am gonna forgive all these "old" comments cuz this poem is so sincere and touching....
but me thinks you and Randy need to skip the nap and fly after that butterfly sigh...

your as young as ya feel Stinky

me

Though my soul may sit in darkness,
It will arise in perfect light.
For I have loved the stars too fondly ...
To be fearful of the night.

Ahhhhh, having an 'end of the week day' feelin' tired...the poem is well done, and though a sad report, it really seems to have a lightness to it...must be from the butterfly.  Hope you sprout your wings.

I do believe you've been seeing my reflection in your mirror - and clearly we are sharing many many thoughts and feelings
- I'm saving this one - - surely I was meant to read it

Seymour, these words you write on pages blue have touched my heart and so to you I say what our PoetFriend JanetMarie has stated something to the fact that like a fine wine can aging be compared...

This is wonderful, Seymour... (and I won't even scold you too much about your old comments since you've captured so well that surprise and dismay felt each time we realize something just isn't what it used to be! LOL.)

Sy--Your poem is told with a pinch of whimsy..I very much enjoyed reading it...for I can relate to quite a bit of it.  I must try taking naps.
