Virginia Salter Walked early under pearly sky book in hand sun in my eye Quiet time of solitude sound waves tickled, cock-a-doodle-dooed A bit in shock in this morning town where sidewalks run up street and down The grinding gears of the trashman’s bane rocked my ears with reeds of pain Yet strolling on round each bend ahead reading words of grace with humor fed Amazed a bit at this small town’s sounds when a brand-new rooster doodles ‘nother round Walking in the earl’ of day fills one with glee smoothes the fray A touch of country music to ears calms the soul quells life’s fears ©April 25, '01 |

Thank you both, rooster crows are wonderful country music, aren't they! I surely didn't think I'd be hearing them in town, though. |
