It’s Not What You See A voice so filled with music a smile that is so kind No longer could she see, for life had left her blind. Darkness does not scare her, her heart so filled with light Memories are all she has to keep her warm at night. In the park, upon a bench, beneath a tree of willow People pass without a glance, yet she nods and says Hello. I saw a couple take a seat and her story she did tell Of a love that was so deep, one she remembered well. We were just your age the day when we first met A handsome man he was his face I can’t forget. I saw a twinkle in her eye as she peered into her past To see Visions of her love; her heart was beating fast. Our Love was pure as rain as true as the azure sky You two share the same, just trust me; please don’t ask me why. She whispered something in their ears this woman she was bold The couple looked at her in awe not questioning what she told She offered them her secret, of keeping love alive It is not what you see; it’s what you feel inside. Soul mates are forever and when things aren’t so right Go to one another and hold each other tight. Embrace your fears together with this you can’t go wrong The powers will look over you for they are deep and strong Trust my words I tell you always your Love will live I’ll bless you two with this gift its all I have to give. They hugged the woman warmly as they got up to leave The couple said together; Yes we do believe. Thank you for the precious gift and they walked away How did this woman know it was their Wedding Day. Upon the news of her death it made me shed a tear So her gift I will pass on for those who care to hear. I will tell you of her secret, of keeping love alive It is not what you see; it’s what you feel inside. Kathy Harmom©April 24, 2001 |

Nearly made me cry. I loved this. It had a musical quality that just begged to be read. "I am not now that which I have been." |

Thank-you everyone for your replies. I think, well I know, that older people have so much to offer. We just need to take the time and listen. |
