Clear Cut We did not think to find it there; Not after thirty miles of washboard Built by the Forest Service As if they didn't care a jolt For the sensibilities of city folks And tourists. It worked. For by the time we got to where we were going Few dared doubt That a bear in a hat Looked out for each and every tree in the norhtwest. And "hell, a truck!" my Dad would shout, And we'd all breathe deep The heavenly scent of old growth Missed By inches. RMW |

"clear cut" irony in the title there. because the way you tell the story it is not so clear cut. which i adore. it's simple, and clean, and...still complicated. |

Aurora and Virginia....I'm sorry for being slow to acknowledge your comments. Thank you. Interloper....chuckling. Thanks. PS I'm thinking that I should share my "Snapping In" (remember the experience?) poem with you. Will have to dig it out this evening. Bob |
