Transient Passings get it back, those thoughts, to where you were then last night without me while I dwell on you this morning, between reading McKuen cover to cover, uncovered again at seventeen and twenty-eight, the times when he entered my life so easily and now at forty-nine his words come more like a mellow wine with understanding so I finished him alone, there on the deck the glider rocking me, before the cottonwoods start snowing, while the springy breezes are still blowing as Abby sniffed her newspapers’ air and vied for attention from McKuen’s cats, her nose laying on a page not in need of being read and mourning doves vied for my ears with their coos for two where were you? I would have read aloud a passage or two my breath would have been a bit huskier in places as my pulse raced anticipation is a good thing what stunned me about his rites when I was seventeen, now raises a smile upon my lips in appreciation for what he so desired admired just once I want to be bent by McKuen’s words as you travel my thighs to a sigh’s realize… I was here. Where were you? [This message has been edited by Sunshine (edited 04-22-2001).] |

A wonderful Sunday morning read. Thank you. (I must dig out some of my old Rod McKuen books. He's one of my absolute favorites.) Mike |

while I dwell on you this morning, between reading McKuen cover to cover, uncovered again at seventeen and twenty-eight, the times when he entered my life so easily and now at forty-nine his words come more like a mellow wine with understanding ============================== ahh K you take me back to a special place and time... and yes... at 17, curled up with my cat, listening to Jackson Browne ... and reading.. no...inhaling Rod.. and this is a very cool write, love the sensual undertones. thanks for reminding me of the need to return to this place again. *********** In Praise of Morning The darkness here is safe. I would love to turn the page of every day in this same way, see everything from your eyes looking out. Touch what there is to touch with your fingers, rub up against the afternoon as part of your thighs rubbing. My cheek grazing yours is like resolve, the sureness of forever. Your tongue is wet and lazy at leisure in my mouth the way I loaf inside of you.. The only movement in the world is the dawn's bright diamond necklace stringing itself across the new horizon. Rod McKuen ************* If the war goes on forever- will we look out on the dawn... and see the eagle playing... with the dove upon the lawn. Will we hear the trumpets, mingled with the harps... If the war goes on forever and the shouting doesn't stop... Rod McKuen **************** Caught in the quiet ... off on our own, Coming together ... or staying alone. Rod McKuen I love your imperfections ... I love your everything ... |

There is a peace in age isn't there? Amongst the chaos and turmoil of life there are comforting moments and places we visit that reach out in timelessness. I could see your cottonwoods. Thank you. |
