*ex*tinc*tion* (noun)

1 : the act of making extinct or causing to be extinguished

2 : the condition or fact of being extinct or extinguished; also : the process of becoming extinct <~ of a species>

3 : the process of eliminating or reducing a conditioned response by not reinforcing it

*en*dan*ger -dan*gered; -dan*ger*ing*

: to bring into danger or peril
: to create a dangerous situation

------------------------

Words on a page of a dictionary ... in this case simply fail to define ...
they lack the true impact of Mankind's cost and toll on nature's design.
What part of extinction don't we understand...once their gone...their gone.
The numbers of loss is staggering ...
so many species have becomes man's pawn.

We are wiping entire species off the face of the land ...
and it will continue on, till we too are endangered ... if no one takes a stand.
Every creature and species play a valuable role and part ...
they are the Earths ecosystem ... they are the Earths heart.
Each of them are important ... no matter how large or small ...
the mightiest mammal, the tiniest organism ... all have taken the fall.

How can we be so blind ... so greedy or so cruel,
we think we are so wise ... but in the end we are the fool.
For all the images of bloodied dead baby seals ...
I hang my head in shame,
How can you look them in the eye and still kill ...
is it greed or need that is to blame.

Dead is dead...and there eventually will be no more,
look into the eye of the tiger ... Cant you see the damage in store.
The list grows ever longer...and if we don't stop...
add MAN to the bottom line.
You wont need a dictionary to tell you ... our own demise will define.

Janet Marie

-----------------------

Currently, there are over 24,000 species that are endangered or threatened by human activities. Unless we do something quickly, they will disappear forever. Without them, Earth's ecosystem may very well crumble. By endangering wildlife, we are endangering ourselves.

Up to 100 species become extinct every day. Scientists estimate that the total number of species lost each year may climb to 100,000 by the year 2010, a rate far exceeding any in the last 65 million years.

=====================
Extinction is Forever ...
Endangered means there's still time!

=====================

Now you look them in the eye ...
then tell them why they have to die ...

Yes.. even BUTTERFLIES!!!
(now ya know I mean business)

you did you work, your research, fine
your words hit hard, they're not sublime
a lesson taught, in truth, 'tis true
and this, my dear, the best side of you.

Excellent work, and excellent pictures, JM...everyone should share the same passion as you!  Unfortunately, greed and the almighty dollar has pretty much taken over any passion man has had for our environment's well-being...thank you for the wake-up call...it's truly something we all need to give lots of serious thought!  Love this, m'friend!

sp

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk into the room...

JM,
You and your poem almost became extinct. I found it on page three. As I told you before
there are not enough people like you. And when I do find one I treasure them all the more. The problem has become to imvolved.
People will breed, eat and war themselves into extinction. I'm afraid you can't even slow it down. We are snowballing into hell.
But I see you my butterfly and cry. There is still time enough for you to fly and I delight in watching you. Forgive me if I can only sigh. Winkiewikie Randy and I. Love

Yes and as you say man may be next...if the whole system collapses...I honor the man that kills to live and abhor the man that kills for greed and profit and his own foolish lust and desires...James

~Not sure I can explain how this one affects me J. It's deep inside. It's achy and scared. - This is very serious, and very, very sad. Thank you for touching us with such alarming information. Your heart is glowing. *Peace you.

Beautiful thoughts coming from such a beautiful person.....You are one in a million dear Janet. Like Balladeer says as long as there are people like you then the world might still stand a chance.

Beautiful pictures as remenders...I loved them and they squeezed the area around my heart til I almost choked............

From a timewarp through the sunlight
comes an alien flush with speed.
stopping at the earth and watching
what can the bold bright alien see
Is he proud or is he fearful
is he cruel or is he calm
is he wise and is he gentle
is he here to right the wrong?

Standing in a golden glow he holds a shining sword in his hand
Looking like a warrior tall he looks across the surface of the sky
and there's a tear in his eye.

He can see the wars and fighting
he can see from life to death
He can see the pain and suffering
he can see the cruel unrest.
As he looks the whole world over
he can see the lack of peace
and he sees the lack of time
making the whole world grow weak
There's silent children sitting there
while they rot upon their chair
He sees fat cows in the pastures
Where's the heart to send them there?

Floating on the breezes he holds a silver tablet before his eyes
slowly now his crystal pen makes notes across the land
from his heart to his shaking hand

There are young girls on the corner
who live upon the edge of life
There are young cops bribed with lucre
where a man can kill his wife.
He can see the wicked prosper
as they feed upon the night
He can turn the whole world over
he can see the same old plight.

He sees the man who makes the models
and the man who cuts the trees
He sees men who fight for freedom
while their generals fight for greed.
He sees people burnt and lonely
standing with their veins diseased
He sees youth in troubled wander
taking lives upon the street.

Grabbing for his flowing robe he wipes the golden tears from his eyes
Sailing with a broken heart he prays to the light within his mind
and he knows he's lost his time
Then in a flash of lightning speed he vanishes from the molten sky
never to say where he flys
because no one listened there..................

With this kind of selfishness in the world it's very hard to right the wrongs that exist. I truly believe it should all start within the family unit! But hey selfishness has tried to ruin that also.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful thoughts in your heart!

It will arise in perfect light.
For I have loved the stars too fondly ...
To be fearful of the night.
