Coupled In Spirit

If only I had the purity of heart
to deliver you from sorrow…
prone to feel your grieving,  my eyes cry
the tears of your weeping

waking with a shudder in a cold sweat
my heart pounds with the ache of your sadness

my soul stumbling in the darkness
as the relentless cast of loneliness
bears it’s shadow upon you

mirrored souls…worlds apart
co-hosting feelings of love and
passion…faltering and dismay…
loss and abandon

coupled in spirit beyond existence…
my heart anguished by the haunting
of an emptiness in your own…

I like the first stanza by itself.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the entire poem, the first stanza is simply my favorite...Embers

Dance with me under the moon. Touch my pale skin. Devour me. Love me.

Sound writing here, deeply moving. Sad yet reaching with compassion to a soul companion.

"coupled in spirit beyond existence…
my heart anguished by the haunting
of an emptiness in your own…" ~Oh my, how I can relate to that...it's so painful to be 'coupled in spirit' like that as you so perfectly worded....incredible poetry, I'm impressed.
