Beyond the Shadowed Curtain Virginia Salter here comes the sunrise gently sneaking into the day filtering through the firmament calling me to pray a prayer of thanksgiving for the life and breath of me a prayer of rejoicing in what there is to be a pastel rosy edge contrasting powder blue behind ebony silhouettes deciduous and spruce the morning slowly wakens hours after I the clock chimes out the moments as the tones fade and die slowly, ever slowly night brightens into morn yet a stillness profound as no winged creature’s borne upon the air or nearby branch the world waiting in a slumberer’s trance I shall do the same of this I’m very certain until I see life stirring beyond the shadowed curtain ©April 10, 2000 |
