From the pine laden woods Across the meadow Saws sing Saws whine Mechanical beavers buzz The roar of semi's Engines revved Stand ready to hoist Their precious loads The smell of pine sawdust Permeates the air As loggers work from Dawn to dusk In overalls and boots and hard hats Careful not to have a mishap A loggers life is not an easy one It takes a special kind To go trampling through the wood Not knowing what May cross their path Or end up in their lap A loggers life is one That's not envied By common folks Like me The occupational hazzards Of their job Are not for wimps like me So when I remember to Appreciate the things That are made from wood That surround me everyday I will not forget to thank The lord, he made loggers They're a special breed of men Or women Who can really truthfully say "I worked hard today" |

Oh yes!!!!!! My friend, you have just struck a chord here with me!!! I grew up in Oregon, where loggers used to make up the entire state!!!! Every word in your poem is the truth about their lives, and I applaud you for paying tribute to them....they have earned it!!! Live...Love...Be grateful for both!! |
