God demanded and I was cold
He spoke of a restriction
A parameter around my life
A “do not” not a “do”
It felt wrong that I was cold
A snake slithering around my bones
I could see its mark upon my skin
And I wanted. Yea I crossed

I cannot recall what I did
But the snake around my heart
Coiled in bundles of constriction
Leaves me longing for my Lord
I hear promise from the snake
My heart feeds it to my brain
I am at will and yet deceived
For I wanted, am I lost?

Consumed by torn of tooth
How did I become its prey
The word of God is in my hand
And I cast amongst the snake
Will I not want forgiveness
Is restriction upon my heart?
Satan devoured my bitter self
For my want, at any cost

You and I were born together
In union we have new life
Bound of Church and Christ let in
We had rock beneath our feet
In subtle slithering motion
Temptation writhed its way
Restriction upon our lives
How the snake found our path

At times it was your sight
And mine became so short
We saw each other’s frailties
And the trails upon our rock
A lisping hiss upon my ear
A restriction upon my heart
“Do not offer or accept”
Forgiveness makes you weak

I’ve been weak since my Lord
Lay restriction upon my heart
And the snake of my temptation
Made bid of simpler way
I ask you both, forgiveness
God recalls not what I did
You and I have hearts at ease
The snake slithered upon its way

This is, by far, the most impressive work of yours I have seen, Walt. This is excellent...

Waltaroza

You have written from original sin all the way to the difficulties of asking forgiveness of the heart. An awesome tail (snake) you have shed.

Oh Walt, I forgive you for ____________(fill in the blank). Whatever it is you did this time. This is beautifully put. Forgiveness is a release and asking it is also a release.

Thank your wife for the read, ok?...(though, you can thank yourself for the response).  This is brilliant.  I will pay more attention here on out.
