Egret This dwelling, taut carcass yoked by tendon, spine, once housed a strong, spirited man. In anguish, sunken, vague eyes find my own shocked gaze, this frail crane perched on reedy legs, unsteady feet. Encircle his weightlessness, parasitic wasting complete, its stagnant, sour stench breathes death’s rotten fruit in place of oxygen. Pressing an object, cold in my hands, gunmetal gray reflecting moon, he softly sings words I once knew, “I lay down golden - in time, and woke up vanishing.”* © 2001 Corinne Bailey *from “Sweet Bird,” Joni Mitchell, 1975. What sadness you display in this poem, Corinne...hopefully, it's a creation and not a real person....best to you... |

Sometimes i'm at a lose on how to comment on these wonderful poems and the meaning behind. Your images of life are such vivid Tapestries. Park |
