Digging Dandelions Virginia Salter ( do you recognize the rhythm of this one? ) digging dandelions at dawn with a knife and little brawn ‘drather sleep and give a yawn than put pock-marks in my lawn maybe I should take a class ‘bout fermenten’ ‘lion grass then could make us all some wine outta dandelion vine perhaps a fortune could be had you could split it with your dad and some salad with the greens very fine on gourmet scenes wouldn’t it be fine and dandy if could make up ‘lion candy serve it up with bits o’ lamb or on the side with sugared ham all the eyes would be on us oh, they’d all make such a fuss ‘bout the ladies who were crazy makin’ dandelion gravy drizzlin’ over chocolate cake oh, I guess that’s a mistake ‘twould be better over turkey or some leathered up beef jerkey a fine crop we could grow if we just taught our minds to know that they've a mind of their own whether young or quite full-grown oh, yes, I'm dandelion looney come along with me, get gooney we can play and dance the jig and no one'll give a fig! ©April 14, '01 |

Countin' flowers on the wall It don't bother me at all Playin' solitaire till dawn With a deck of fifty-one Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do! *G* Thanks for the smiles, VAS... but I'll confess... even though my wishes haven't yet come true, I still love to blow dandelion fuzz all over the place (thereby giving you more to dig up! LOL) |
