One Day Early Virginia Salter Rose of Sharon rises perhaps a day early of the planned festivities yet would we hold Him back from a perfectly timed visit? Oh glorious morning sky one day before Easter’s commemoration the feast of awesome joy joy for His rising His defeat of death His defeat of Hell the proving of His promise the giving of His Spirit to comfort, convict, counsel. Would we say, “Father, Easter is not yet, take back this precious morning this lively sky in it glorious rosy red dawn?” Surely not, surely we would never turn away His awesome gifts saying it’s too soon it doesn’t fit my plan I’m not ready for this joy I’m saving it for the morrow. So, then, I shall smile past these joyful tears that well up in me over the priceless panorama before me etching His perfect love into my heart. ©April 14, '01 |
