I may have been wrong to give my heart away
But I thought she was here to stay
Cause she told me that she loved me
She must have lied cause she has went away

Was my love too cold to fill her needs?
I told her that she was what I needed
When she held me tight my world seemed so bright
She told me that I was the only person she needed

To me she was heaven sent
When she held me in her arms I thought it was a blessed event
Seems now that is was just
A breach of trust with fraudulent intent

I made her the most important item in my life
I would have given up my world if she ‘d been my wife
But seems that was just more wasted time
She has stolen my heart and went out of my life

It seems she had it all planned
Now I feel like a used cigar band
Used and discarded because I was no longer needed
My world has gone from grand to bland

The hard part is that I don’t know what I have done
This old world has lost all its fun
Even the sun has hid it face
When I go out at night even the stars run

Now it seems that my life has run its course
I feel like an old wore out plow horse
I don’t really see any reason to go on
Without her in my life I have no driving force

So now that the dreams that two begun
Has turn into the nightmarish solitude of one
I to am going to disappear
For the reasons I have for staying around here are down to none

But don’t let me make you blue
It would be better if I just disappeared from view
But before I go I want to know
That I really did love you

So now before I change my mind and start anew
I would truly like to thank you
For what love you did show to me
And with that I bid you
Adieu

It hurts to lose someone, but I chose my quote for a reason, it always "means something" to love. I hope that gives you some comfort. I've felt this pain.

I would say keep an open heart; love is real, you just haven't found it.

there are those out there who would play us the fool because we still believe in love. . . try not to let them to. . . follow your heart, but if your mind tells you they're bad. . . listen to it. . .

excellent words. . .

In having thought on this, long and hard...sometimes the love was there, for awhile...

and sometimes we discover that we erred...

we didn't lie...

we thought we were right...

some things change...

good write.

Powerful and emotive sentiments you've penned Alan ... you've captured a pain so many of us have known, very nicely done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Wonderful expression of such painful feelings, Alan...I liked this a lot!  Great write...

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk in the room...

Continue your poetic writings, for which I seek solitude. Don't leave on her account, for she has not leave you at all. It hit me hard. LLP
