It Would Be So Much Easier Why can’t my heart fall in love where it should? I would choose him not you, yes I honestly would He’s honest, he’s charming and he says he loves me Oh why can’t my silly heart with sensible eyes see? He treats me with respect, and he’s always so true He doesn’t lie or cheat, he’s not a bit like you So why can’t I instruct my heart where to rest? It would be so much easier it would be for the best Why can’t my heart just pay attention to me? I would choose him not you yes I would honestly He’s always where he says he will be, he’s there Oh why can’t my stupid heart learn where to care? He says that I’m wonderful and he’s always kind He doesn’t mess me about, I know what I’ll find So why can’t I tell my heart to do what it’s told? It would be so much easier having his heart to hold Why can’t my heart hear the words I have to say? I would choose him not you, yes I would any day He’s trusting, he never questions where I’ve been Oh why can’t my foolish heart with truth be seen? He talks to me like I have some sense in my head He doesn’t dismiss me or make me wish I were dead So why can’t I speak to my heart in accents clear? It would be so much easier if I held him not you dear Why can’t my heart see the sense of falling for him? I would choose him not you, yes with him I could sin He’s always kind and he says he really truly loves me Oh why isn’t my heart start seeing things at all clearly When he kisses me why don’t I hear bells ring? He tells me all the time that I make his heart sing So why can’t I convince my heart you're too bad for me? It would be so much easier if my heart acted sensibly Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning [This message has been edited by Marsha (edited 04-14-2001).] |

The heart, unfortunately, is not connected to logic.... Wonderful writing here....I know what you mean, exactly... Pepper |

It's so wonderful to read you Marsha ... this was excellent! It's so very, very true ... why do these hearts just not listen to logic, sigh ... This is such a beautiful and flowing poem, I really enjoyed your sentiments in this Marsha! Best wishes, /Kit |
