Won’t you take time to consider- Won’t you try to understand? The things that make me who I am, Just once, Behold the man. For life does shape our destinies, I’ll explain it if I can... The things which forged my character, If you’ll... Behold the man. I bear the scars revealing- A life of pain and grief. I could go on for pages- But I’ll try to make it brief. Drinking, drugs, and fast cars- Once nearly brought me down. In times of retrospection... I rarely smile, but frown... A heritage of hardship- Helped to make me what I am. Cynical? Well, maybe... But, please? Behold the man. These wrinkles, sir, are war maps- That are graven in my face... Both the laughter, and the sorrow... I fear have left their trace. A childhood filled with sadness, Yields a life that’s out of hand. And mine was no exception... Can’t you see? Behold the man. But sorrow's not uncommon- There are many wretched lives- The weak one dies off early... The strong one he’s survives. The progeny of Adam... We bear sins scarlett brand! Ere you condemn your neighbor, Kindly, stop! Behold the man. |

I enjoyed "Behold the Man". What is that saying? "Don't talk bad about someone till you've walked a mile in his shoes." Oh well something like that. You put it so much more eloquently. |

We often see only the superficial... or don't look at all, simply react to the situation. *S* This is well written and thought provoking, GS! |

Slinger~ Wonderfully written. 'These wrinkles, sir, are war maps- That are graven in my face... Both the laughter, and the sorrow... I fear have left their trace.' I just love this verse ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
