They don’t look kindly upon moms who sue schools, no longer in the realm of soccer or volunteer mom, you’re the enemy, only thing is - your kids still have to go there after the family name is mud. Your kid got injured on that set of monkey bars. You know with absolute certainty the design is dangerous. But political bureaucracy is at play, so the district will ignore the facts, stand pat behind federal safety guidelines, the same ones that in the past approved equipment that caused kids to choke, strangle, and fall from great heights. You’ve tried being reasonable, you’ve talked to the principal, superintendent, maintenance super, and the insurance authority. If you’re done exercising your jaw, time to kick some ass the American way, ‘cause its only a matter of time before another kid gets hurt. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

"kick some ass" yep, when it gets to that point...that's what you do! Sorry folks but public schools are rotten! The dangers are far too great in many many areas.....AWESOME Corinne! SEA [This message has been edited by SEA (edited 04-12-2001).] |

of course, there are plenty of times while doing playground duty, that I see kids stretching the safety rules or going way past them...and 3 teachers cannot be in every place on the playground at once some schools have the benefit of volunteer parents coming in during recess periods to help supervise playground activities, that helps lots |

When mine were so enrolled - and such controversies arose - I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper. I suggested that education graduates go directly to 'administration' - if they 'succeeded' there --- - they could be promoted to 'teacher' (I hope you read in this a sympathetic ear) |
