November's Love

You seem to hush
Your heart,
As some do winter in the spring,
When far too early
They hurry growth,
Denying beauty
In the stark,
And, fighting traffic
In a rush
To spade a glint of sun,
They make a patch.
There is a time for trembling;
For courting frost
And sweet November's still, small
Voice.
But, if syrup is the choice you seek,
Your are too late.
Do not come here
Where grace awaits
In priestly robes of evergreen.
Love me not
If truth offends.
I have no time.
Pretend.
Go back.
Return to your garden
With your compost.

Sea, Corrine, and Sunshine....Thank you all. But I think that this still needs quite a bit of re-write. (I've always loved the phrase, "Sweet November"...I'm told the re-make is good, though I doubt that it can hold a candle to the original. Smiling.

JLR...I am pleased, that you are pleased. And, as Decaflame, above, was also pleased, that makes three of us. Smiling. Thank you very much.  Bob
