~*~ The Mirror~*~ by Mysteria The mirror casts dark shadows, On this night's empty heart, Heavy with so many years of bygones. A heart so depleted of trust and laughter, Fear contours bars on mind's cage. ~*~ Reflexes tighten at residual thoughts, Allowing no one to permeate the soul, For there lives a frightened child, Cowering in fear's darkest corners. ~*~ Locked in safety, so tucked away, In desolation, silent are the screams. A miniscule pearl within a shell, Waiting to be forever treasured. ~*~ Decisions of change arduous, Mind's eye drifts back in time, To years of non-existence, Such a familiar and lonely place. ~*~ Trepidation locks tightly the door. If opened, will safety be mine? And what would they really see? Will they see past who I say is me? ~*~ I stare at my own reflection, And I can not see into my soul. Sadly I do not like what I see, For in the mirror, I see me. ~*~ * ~*~ * Art: The Mirror - D. Embers ~ Wow! Thanks for even reading it, I am kinda honored here Melissa ~ Ever just have one of those days? This is how they feel. I am sorry you relate to that last bit, it is a sad place to be. Brad ~ Thank you - this is the first time in a long time I wrote first and hunted for the picture last, maybe I will try that again. Sunshine ~ Oh dear one, you suit your name so well, thank you. ~*~ I write, therefore I am ~*~ [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 04-11-2001).] |

I have to go back and read ALL of your posts...normally I turn my sound down...today it's up [on home computer] and I have been gifted with the music behind your poetry... I sit here in awe! Your choreography of mixing pictures with sounds with words.... blow me away.... |

This hit me hard in the heart - an excellent combination of talented writing, a beautiful picture, and fitting music. Well done! *claps wildly while drying eyes* ~Becky~ Reading this, we all see your soul, and it's beautiful...forget the mirror, they lie anyway! |

~*Sven*~ Thank you so much for reading this. ~*Marg*~ I am so glad you enjoyed this piece. ~*Sunshine*~I love music, art and poetry equally so I can't do one without the other, but sometimes I try. He he...you read but you did not hear? The almost all have music. ~*~Beckalini*~It has to hit hard in the heart to feel rejected, alone, and lost! But, I think if one keeps looking in a mirror eventually love of self surfaces. Thank you so much for enjoying this. [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 04-11-2001).] |

Yes I can relate, at times, to this melancholy, but well written gem. And the presentation is,as always, superb. (Aplauds loudly) Aloha with warmest regards, Koko |

Koko ~ the trick is we don't relate too often, and it the darn thing be a friend more than our foe. Thank you for reading. |

In the mirror, sometimes I see my mother, for I grow more like her each day. Deep inside I'm a tired 16 year old who wonders how we arrived to this place in time. I can only smile. ~Shalom "I am not now that which I have been." |

Julian: You know it wasn't until your post that I realized how very much (almost identical) I look like my Mother, funny...I never noticed that until you said it. I too feel something but I feel like a 100 year old woman with way too much experience trapped in a small child's mind. Thanks for reading, and making me think! ~*~ I write, therefore I am ~*~ |
