I wish I didn’t think the way I do And could dispel the voices, shrill and shrew Inside my head rising such a clatter Sometimes I care, though nothing matters A voice of reason in the wilderness A symphony in the stillness Something needed to bring about order But that is getting harder and harder I wish I was not made the way that I am To make all things want into can How different life would certainly be If God had put other stuff into me To not view things with a slightly shifted slant If upon losing causes, I did not myself plant And impulses, not act upon every single one But what would then be done for fun? I wish I could change misfortune in the past And maybe choose different winding paths Put all wrongs into endless right To not give in to promise of youthful night And never knowingly forestall Anything worthwhile, anything at all Hindsight is always simply second best To foresight, the first and foremost quest I wish these wishes to take wing I wish these, impossible things |

Be careful for what you wish ... you just may get it Live for love. Without love, you don't live. |

Carefull what you wish for you just might get it. I understand this so well.....I like to think as we get older we gain some of the foresight....but we are here to learn and grow....so I don't mind too much the not knowing and just try to do my best I liked this SEA |

...and if wishes were horses, beggars would ride... dittoing Interloper.... I only wish that from this point forward, every day, that I make good decisions, put faith in wonderful people.... and create smiles.... the rest is in God's hands |

Now the things that I remember seem so distant, so small Though it hasn't really been that long a time What I was seeing wasn't what was happening at all Although for awhile, our path did seem to climb When you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger While the loneliness seems to spring from your life Like a fountain from a pool Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight You've had to hide sometimes but now you're all right And it's good to see your smiling face tonight Now for you and me it made not be that hard to reach our dreams But that magic feeling never seems to last ... And while the future's there for anyone to change Still you know it's seems It would be easier sometimes to change the past I'm just one or two years and a couple of changes behind you In my lessons at love's pain and heartache school Where if you feel too free and you need something to remind you Theres this loneliness springing up from your life Like a fountain from a pool Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight You've had to hide sometimes but now you're alright And it's good to see your smiling face tonight Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight You've had to struggle, you've had to fight To keep understanding and compassion in sight You could be laughing at me, you've got the right But you go on smiling so clear and so bright ~Jackson Browne~ your beautiful poem of regret reminded me of this favorite old song. Far too many of us can relate to the words... sometimes the things that we cant change, are the things define us and make us who we are. A test perhaps, or simply just the way the cards were cut. Excellent poem PK, written with your usual depth and intensity baby, dont you work so hard for this prize you found ... |

The best thing about this is that you have self examine yourself, by doing this you can change some of the things that made your past, and have some control of your future. I like this one allot! |

Thank you all for responding, it never ceases to amaze me how people take every word you write literally, like a diary. |
