'Twould be so very nice if hearts, Were made of stronger stuff. And they could come back good as new, When they've been treated rough. For twenty years, her heart was hers, No others called it theirs. The first time that she let it roam, It came back for repairs. She lent her ony heart to him, Without a single doubt. It would be loved and cherished And not just tossed about. Last night he gave her bruised heart back, So much the worse for wear; No apology for breaking it, No offer to repair. Her heart is back where it belongs, To rest and heal and mend. If someone asks to borrow now, She'll be too wise to lend. No one will have her heart again, Until this fact he learns. She's marked it as "Sale final, Absolutely no returns." By Joyce 11/15/2000 |

Oh, Joyce...this poem is fantastic in it's wisdom. Sometimes I think we give our hearts away too easily, and how easily they are broken. I love the ending verse...it's one I shall 'take to heart'!! Live...Love...Be grateful for both!! |

Yes I know that I give my heart to easily...and sometimes it seems like it goes thru one of those tree chipping machines...James |

Joyce, I think everyone has experienced this feeling at one time or another. Please learn to trust again. Not all men are uncaring. ((((hugs)))) Michael Proust- |

Oh that's so sad *snuffle* Very wise words, beware who you give your heart to. Thank you for the joy it was to read this, and the sound advice. |

Joyce---This is wonderful, wise and I'm so glad I read it. Love the last line! Speak when you are angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret...Laurence J. Peter |

excellent Joyce. . . never let go until you're ready. . . ----------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Thanks everyone. It's been a long time since I gave my heart to the wrong person, but you never forget the feeling. Joyce |

But even when all sales are final, you can't keep someone from finding a handy trash can, leaving you empty. *S* This is great, Joyce... I liked it a lot! |
