Poetic Worlds by Michael The troubled poet works at rhyme Of fantasies he wished were true So trapped within his present life There's nothing else that he can do That eyes could gaze upon his own And find in them all that he is Then deeply cherish what they see Would give him so much happiness But only in dreams can this be Just rhyming words to get him by He lives a life of fantasy Poetic worlds that are a lie How in these worlds he's treasured so By loveliness with tender heart A hand to hold beneath the stars And of each day to be a part A cold bath is reality The contrast often hard to bear He'd rather live within his poems For life it seems is too unfair So in the darkness yet again Another world does he create And there her hand to hold once more Beneath the stars and contemplate Proust- |

Oh, Michael~ This is so poignantly endearing. Not all poets live in a fantasy world - but surely some do ... How wonderful to have a safe haven of happiness to retreat to when things in the outside world aren't as kind as we'd like them to be. May your 'contemplate' bring us many more beauties to touch us ... *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

I liked this but it is sad. I am hoping you find someone in the real world to capture your poet's heart. Betty Lou Hebert |

Michael-- Indeed, a poet can create a world sweet, within a verse capture complete, but life is not just flowers blooming, in it there is also glooming but it is worth every breath, to be around to see the rest. Excuse my silly little rhyme. You always write so well, Michael, and this is no exceptiong...hugs! |

Michael, So sad were your words and I guess most of us who write see it as an escape from the real world but also a way to show others our innermost thoughts which sometimes even our closest friends don't see. I know some of what I write is fantasy but I know one thing for sure, whether or not you were a writer, you would still be a very sincere and special person.....I have no doubt about that! Take care my friend.........Sue Suetang |

Michael: Very nice. I think we reveal our true selves with our poetry whether we write from real life or imagination. Or both. Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (edited 04-08-2001).] |

Many times the words we write reveal our heart's. Sometimes it's reality and other times just a touch of fantasy. You just never know how it will all come out. Great writing. All writing comes |

Ethan, Yes, and escape. Poetry has always been like a form of therapy to me. Thank you. Karilea, Thank you. Thank you also for reading this piece. Marge, It's true that I sometimes retreat into my poetry. It would be my guess that many of us do. Thank you, my friend. Trillium, Thank you for finding the time to read this. Martie, Thank you for the nice compliment, my friend. You're very sweet. (((hugs))) Sunny, I love it when I see your post on one of my poems. It's always such a nice surprise. Be checking your mail. Take care, good friend and thank you. Sue, Yes, an escape and a way of sharing our innermost thoughts. I am a very sincere person, but I don't see myself as special in anyway. Still, it's nice to hear. Thank you, sweet friend. Lone Wolf, Yes, sometimes reality and at other times, fantasy. Even so, it is true that our hearts are much exposed in everything we write. Thank you. Joyce, I think we reveal much of our true selves, because poetry is an honest art form. Thank you for reading this piece. Elizabeth Anne, Thank you for the "well done" and for liking this one. Thank you, all! Michael Proust- |

Poets may well live in their dreams, but perhaps it is a way of surviving the rough and chaffing tides of ordinary life. Very insightful, indeed. ) |

Lauren and Nicolette, Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to read this. Yes, sometimes it's nice to escape into a life that we have some control in shaping. Still, it's only fantasy and real life is so much better, isn't it? Take care. Michael Proust- |
